Just another photograph

_DSC1831

Winchelsea beach, Sussex UK.

Shot using an ND4 grad and processed using Adobe Lightroom.

Managed to pull myself out of bed this morning to go out with my camera, however nothing exciting happened with the weather. I came away with one or two OK pics, this being one. It’s nothing spectacular but I quite like how the water has formed a circular shape in the foreground.

Hoping for something better next time. Thanks for stopping by.

Infinity Path

Shot on Hasselblad 500c, Carl Zeiss Planar 80mm f2.8, Ilford FP4.

This is the last shot that came out of the Hasselblad before the curtain got too cold and stuck. I had to letterbox this frame as the curtain had only partially opened, leaving the top and bottom of the negative unexposed.

Flow (plus Cokin Z Pro update)

Another of my unaffected shots from Sunday’s shoot.

Cokin ND8 Grad, processed in Lightroom 5.7.

Cokin reflection issue update (see last post)

So I took both adapter rings into work with the intention of sanding off the fronts when my friend Rob had the great idea of using acetone to remove the lettering. A quick rub with neat acetone and hey presto, the lettering is gone.

Now obviously not everyone will have acetone to hand but I reckon nail polish remover will do the same job, as it contains acetone. You’ll probably just need to use a little more elbow grease. This doesn’t get rid of the fact that they have been finished in shiny black but my main issue was with the lettering. Like I said in my previous post, the problem only occurs when the light shines directly in front of the lens but if I see the rim of the adapter showing in the future I’ll go down the route of applying some matte black paint to the inner edge.

I should also point out that at the time I experienced this issue I was using a 10-20mm super wide angle lens, set at 10mm. It might not be such an issue when using lenses without such a wide angle of view. More testing needs to be done though to analyse this.

Thanks for reading.

Ignite

Ignite

So having taken a fair number of shots of Beachy Head lighthouse (see last post), the incoming tide forced us to make our way back around the cliffs. On our way we noticed a gap in the clouds with some sunlight poking through. Realising it wouldn’t last long we quickly headed toward a flat patch of sand (just a few meters away) to set up to capture the light before it was gone. It lasted just a few minutes.

Really pleased I captured this and when I saw it on the computer screen it cried out to be made black and white. I’ve gone for my usual high contrast look to really emphasise the drama.

Processed in Topaz B&W Effects and Lightroom 5.
