Over the Hill at Montefiore

I am very pleased to announce that a selection of 40 photographs from Tim Andrews project ‘Over the Hill’, will be on display at the Montefiore hospital in Hove this coming May.  The exhibition runs from the 5th to 26th May, located in the ground floor reception area. Tim recommends that visitors please view between the hours of 10am to 5PM as it is a working hospital. Most of the photographs will be on show for the first time but I am chuffed for this to be the second appearance of my picture ‘Journeyman’, (the first showing was at Goldsmiths college).

The address is; The Montefiore Hospital, 2 Montefiore Road, Hove, BN3 1RD.

For more information about Tim’s project, please click here.

Here is a link to a BBC culture show feature from 2011, about the project.  https://youtu.be/hd4jOWzMyx8

I very much hope to get over and see all the great work, I hope you can too.

New year, now what?

So, last year I completed my 366 project ‘Images not words’, with not a single day missed. Now, with that completed I’m asking myself, now what? The simple answer is to just keep on shooting.

I will be taking a look back through all of last years pics, putting together groups of images that fit into the same category or that create some sort of narrative/story. How long that will take I cannot say but in the back of my mind I would like to be able to produce something tangible out of it. Not a book but perhaps something more DIY, like a pamphlet. All just ideas at this stage but something to aim towards.

For now I think I’ll be keeping the blog going by showcasing images taken on a weekly basis.

So, here is a small selection of the images taken this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

Forest floor

A few shots taken one bright morning in Epping forest a few weeks ago.

For those interested:

Minimal gear taken ( my street photography setup) as we were visiting family for the weekend and car space was short. Fujifilm X-M1, Fujinon 18mm F2R, Manfrotto PIXI mini tripod, Wellington boots.

Guy Fawkes night

Visited family this weekend. On Saturday eve we all went to see the local fireworks display held at St John’s church hall. However, the grounds were at full capacity upon our arrival, so we decided to stay and view from the roadside.

Worked out much better for me as I found a much better place to get photographs by including the floodlit church.

A fab display.

Pizza followed.

A fiery start

(8 images)

Today got off to a spectacular start with this fabulous sunrise. Luckily I was out early enough to capture it and ran around like a headless chicken, taking as many shots as I could from a few different viewpoints. It was also a bonus to have one of the fishing boats being launched at the same time.

No filters used this time as I was using my smaller mirrorless camera and a mini Manfrotto tripod.
