In Pictures; The Cyril and Lilian Bishop lifeboat

Today saw the finale of Dee-Day White and Tush Hamilton’s restoration project to bring the Cyril & Lilian Bishop (aka, The Ghost of Dunkirk) lifeboat back to Hastings.
The challenge today was to bring the boat from The Stade on the seafront, up All Saints street to its final resting place opposite All Saints church.

Congratulations to Dee-day and Tush, it really was a tremendous effort by everyone involved.

Here is my record of the event in pictures.

New year, now what?

So, last year I completed my 366 project ‘Images not words’, with not a single day missed. Now, with that completed I’m asking myself, now what? The simple answer is to just keep on shooting.

I will be taking a look back through all of last years pics, putting together groups of images that fit into the same category or that create some sort of narrative/story. How long that will take I cannot say but in the back of my mind I would like to be able to produce something tangible out of it. Not a book but perhaps something more DIY, like a pamphlet. All just ideas at this stage but something to aim towards.

For now I think I’ll be keeping the blog going by showcasing images taken on a weekly basis.

So, here is a small selection of the images taken this week.

Thanks for stopping by.

A fiery start

(8 images)

Today got off to a spectacular start with this fabulous sunrise. Luckily I was out early enough to capture it and ran around like a headless chicken, taking as many shots as I could from a few different viewpoints. It was also a bonus to have one of the fishing boats being launched at the same time.

No filters used this time as I was using my smaller mirrorless camera and a mini Manfrotto tripod.

Happy Mondays @ Hastings Pier 17.09.16

Happy Mondays, Saturday 17th sept. (31 Photos)

Yesterday my wife and I went to see the Happy Mondays perform their 1990 album, Pills n thrill n bellyaches in full, plus some other classics thrown in for good measure. Simply put, they were fab!

We arrived pretty early on in the afternoon while the support acts were on, (one being The Orb who were also magnificent), which meant we were able to get ourselves right up against the barrier.

The rain came down for most of the preceding bands sets, getting both us and my camera rather wet. However it kept on working right through the evening despite getting soaked and not being weather resistant. The dial on the rear of the cam is a bit stiff today but a bit of silicone switch clean spray should hopefully sort that out.

I decided to convert all the pictures to mono,  as I feel it really enhances the atmosphere. As you can see, I took a good few pics of Bez, he’s such a great character and completely knows how to play to the camera. You just can’t stop yourself from taking his picture.

Lovely to see a guest appearance from Dennis and Lois too!

Hope you like them.
