RX118 morning launch

It was a stunning morning today and so, before work, I headed towards Hastings old town to see what opportunities were to be had. When there I headed for the beach and the fishing fleet.

As luck would have it, the three man team of RX118 had just started the process of readying the boat to be launched from the beach. All the boats at Hastings are launched in this way, being carefully pushed by bulldozer over wooden sleepers towards the sea.

I decided to stay and photograph the whole process, about 20-30 mins in total. On this occasion I asked the skipper if he minded me hanging about taking pics, of which he had no objection to, so long as I stayed a safe distance back.

I took around 100 pics in total but have managed to whittle it down to 24 to show here.

I’ve processed all the photos in my usual black and white style. Despite it being a glorious sunny morning, I believe the monotone helps make a stronger image.

*A big hello to the fellow photographer I  met on the beach and had a nice chat with. Hope you got some good shots too. *

On the beach

A small collection of shots taken on the beaches of Hastings, St.Leonards and Cooden are starting to build up in my library. These have all been taken over the last few weeks.

Rather than posting each one separately, I think it best to group similar shots together. Exceptions only if I think something stands out from the rest.

A few more

Once again I’ve had a quick sift through some shots taken over the past week or so.

Here are a handful I quite like that slipped through the net.

We’ve had mostly reasonably dry weather lately which has enabled me to take the opportunity to get out and about much more.

It’s not so nice today though, with constant rain pouring down all morning. Hopefully there will be a break in the drizzle later so I can get out to grab something for today’s ‘Images not words’ shot.

More shots from this week

As usual, getting out most days to get something for my daily photo means I end up with a few more that I don’t put up. So here is another weekly catch up post.

A number of these shots were taken while walking off the beaten track. I often prefer to walk around the back and side streets as I currently find them more interesting.

The graffiti shot of the baby with the digger can be found along the beach at St.Leonards-on-sea, right were the Banksy Tesco piece is.

I’ve definitely been more obsessed with grungy street scenes of late but I wouldn’t mind getting out to do some landscape stuff again. We’ll have to see if I can muster the energy to get out early.
