Got up early and went out for what ended up being a four hour walk with the camera around Hastings today. Didn’t take as many shots as last week but still think I got a few I’m pleased with. Noticed this tucked away up on the west hill.
Processed in Topaz B&W Effects 2 and Lightroom 5.3.
Hope you’ve all had a pleasant weekend.
I like these kind of shots, St Leonard’s especially has lots of this kind of graffiti. How do you find Topaz B&W?
Yes I had a good wander round St Leonards last weekend. Really like Topaz B&W, Pretty much all my mono work goes through it. I’ve made a number of my own presets as starting points for various subjects. For me I can get a more earthy, gritty look with Topaz than say Silverefex which to me gives a more polished look, though to be honest they are very similar. I used to just use Lightroom for mono, sometimes I do both and compare to see which I prefer. At the moment Topaz comes out top. Like anything though, it takes a little while to get used to things. Hope this helps. 🙂
I bought a few of the Topaz editing software including the B&W, I can’t seem to get the results I want. I really love the B&W in VSCO Cam app, you know the old flat kind…I’ll have to give it another go sometime.
Not tried the VSCO but heard good things about it. All comes down to what suits your own particular style. I’m more of a soot and whitewash kind of chap. I hear good things about Alien Skin software too but I really need to channel cash into a new camera body rather than more software. 😉
