Church

Church

Taken during our visit to Somerset, sadly I didn’t manage to get the name (One day I’ll try to look it up on Google maps).

It was one of those days where it was mostly grey and windy but interspersed with the occasional bright spell, it was just a case of waiting for the right moment. This was the best I got.

Processed in Lightroom 5 and Topaz B&W Effects2.

Submerged

Submerged

Bexhill Beach.

Some fabulous rock formations are exposed when the tide is out and yes I was stood in the water, wellies on of course. It was this shot that I believe the second of my tripod’s rubber feet got lost!

Filters used: ND4 + ND4 Grad. Processed in Lightroom 5.

Tarr Steps mono

Tarr steps

One of my Fave shots so far this year.

The contrast of light was so great that I had to bracket exposures even with my ND grads on. Blended in Photomatix then converted to mono using Topaz B&W Effect2, addition work in Lightroom 5.

A slice of Cheddar

A slice of CheddarCheddar Gorge

Two views of Cheddar Gorge, Somerset. Both taken while walking down the long windy road back to the cafe and tourist shops.

Looking at both these photos I decided that a mono approach would suit the subject much better. I used my currently preferred Lightroom plugin for B&W, Topaz B&W Effects2. I do have other software that does a similar job but I’m finding Topaz just suits my style better. Some additional dodging and burning done using Adobe Lightroom.

If you like what you see just click on the Topaz link in the sidebar to either try out or purchase a copy for yourselves.
