Reflection

_DSC2676

‘Reflection’

Standing at the waters edge.

I take time to reflect.

On times of sorrow.

And of joy.

On what has been.

And of things yet to come

Our time is short.

Seize the day.

Love one another.

Peace.

On January 1st I will be starting a 366 project, titled ‘Images not words’. A photo taken and posted each day throughout 2016 with, as the title suggests, no accompanying dialogue. Any subject using any camera. A challenge to get my mind working. Some are bound to be bad, hopefully more will be good. Overall I hope it will be interesting.

The posts will appear in your blog reader feed like any regular post but on the site itself, the blog and 366 project will appear on separate pages.

Thanks for reading.

The past inside the present

DSCF1413

‘The past inside the present’

Pevensey castle in silhouette against a moonlit sky.

I took this image last night just after leaving work. As I worked on it, a line from the track ‘Music is Math’ by Boards of Canada entered my head. It fits perfectly.

I have stood and watched for a thousand years.

Through war and peace.

Through hot summer days and cold winter nights.

As time erodes my shell.

Many stories I could tell.

I am the past inside the present.

Silent.

Stoic.

Words by me.

All that glisters

‘All that glisters’

“All that glisters is not gold;
Often have you heard that told:
Many a man his life has sold
But my outside to behold:
Gilded tombs do worms enfold
Had you been as wise as bold,
Your in limbs, in judgment old,
Your answer had not been in’scroll’d
Fare you well: your suit is cold.’ Cold, indeed, and labour lost: Then, farewell, heat and welcome, frost!”

A moment

DSCF5984

‘A moment’

A moment to reflect .

A moment of peace.

A moment to dream.

A moment to take in all that surrounds you.

These moments help cleanse the soul.

Savour them.

I’m going through my catalogue again to see how I can better organise the gallery section. Initially I quite liked the simple idea of a mono and colour section. The problem in my view is that there is nothing to link the images, they are just a grouping of a few of my favourites.

My aim is to group images within a particular theme and have them as sub-pages within a main portfolio page. I initially thought I could just sit down and get on with it but I realise that it’s something I’m going to have to chip away at over a much longer period.

Curating ones own images is proving much more difficult than I had previously thought.
